Oracle Linux 6.4 Running with SystemCenter 2012 R2 and Hyper-V 2012 R2 Part 1/4

This will be a start of a small series with Installing , Protecting and Monitoring Oracle Linux running on Hyper-V 2012 R2 and System Center 2012 R2

First off is basic install , 2nd is protecting with Data Protection Manager and 3rd is Monitoring with Operations Manager and last creating template with Virtual Machine Manager

Oracle have released Oracle 6.4 Linux that have support for Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V

and the good news is

So as we dont have a template (yet) we need to create a new Virtual Machine from the VMM console

And find a name , Generation 1 is required for Linux VM’s

Attach the ISO and a select a disk

And select Oracle Linux for OS type

image

And a few minutes later the VM is ready to install

Start Installer

Select Basic Storage Device

image

And Yes to discard existing data

image

Select a host name

image

and we need a password

image

Select use all space

image

And we just need a basic server install

image

And we wait a bit to install

image

image

And 5 minutes later we have a running Linux VM
